The article precedes the published in this issue of the journal list of files related to
the preparation of the draft Part One of the Civil Code of Russia. In this regard, the
main types of preparatory materials formed during the legislative work of this kind are
characterized, their importance for science and practice is explained. It tells how and
thanks to whom the materials for preparing draft projects of the Russian Civil Code
were saved, systematized and made available.
