The work pertains to the main theories of causation from the point of view of establishing
the limits of liability and attempts both to compare soviet theories of causation
with foreign theories and to emphasize the common concept unifying different theories
of causation.
Keywords: legal causation; equivalence theory; adequate cause theory; protective
purpose of the rule theory; remoteness of damage; soviet theories of causation.
